SampsonRMC is among only a handful of independent, community-based hospitals remaining in North Carolina. More than a hospital, SampsonRMC is a health system of outpatient and professional services – all committed to excellence in delivering quality healthcare to our community.

Our Foundation supports the health system in fulfilling its mission by funding new equipment, renovations, special projects, and capital investments. Funds are raised through grants, special events, and donor contributions.

We value your continued support as our Foundation grows to meet the expanding needs of our community hospital; below, you’ll find details about some of our recent projects.

Consider designating your gift to one of the following:

  • Patient Care: Equipment & medical devices for nursing units, operating room, laboratory and rehabilitation
  • Imaging & Diagnostic Equipment: MRI, ultrasound, CT, etc.
  • Facility Operations: Boilers, chillers, HVAC, power redundancy, etc.
  • Information Technology + Security: Telehealth, fiber expansion, system redundancy, digital storage, telecommunications upgrades, etc.
  • Board Designated Fund: Gifts will be used responsibly where it will meet the greatest need

A special thank you is extended to all 2023 Annual Giving Campaign Foundation Donors. Without each of you, vital projects to advance patient care would not be possible.

  • Secured funding to enable Sampson Medical Group of Clinton to adopt the Reach Out & Read intervention, which is aimed at impacting childhood literacy and improved school readiness. New books are given at every well-child visit for patients age birth to 5 years old, and providers use the books during the exam to help evaluate cognitive, motor, social, and emotional development.
  • Proposal to private donor for a gift of $27,000 to implement the BABY & ME – Tobacco Free Program™. The evidence-based program is free to prenatal/postpartum women and is aimed at helping women permanently quit tobacco use. Mothers and their partners who successfully quit can earn free diapers for up to 12 months.
  • Secured “Response & Relief” funding to support the hospital’s swift plans to protect its workforce and safely care for patients in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds supported supply and special equipment procurement, retrofitting of patient care areas for isolation and negative pressure, and preparations for surge units.
  • Awarded $132,000 grant by North Carolina Healthcare Foundation for the purchase of additional vital signs monitors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional monitors significantly reduced the amount of equipment exchanged between patient rooms, supported infection control measures, and improved capacity to open additional beds during a patient surge.
  • Secured a NC Department of Commerce Jobs Retention Grant for demonstrating success in maintaining our full-time workforce during the pandemic. As many health systems responded to COVID-19 challenges with a reduction-in-force, SampsonRMC made the decision to keep full-time workers employed. This commitment was exercised in the best interest of the workforce and local economy, and without the expectation of expense recovery.
  • We know giving starts with us! Our employees demonstrated their commitment to strong healthcare in our community by giving back. Collectively, our employees have pledged over $10,000 through our 9th Annual Employee + Physician Giving Campaign in 2023.
  • In recent terms, thousands in tuition grants were awarded to employees enrolled in degree-based programs to help advance their careers at SampsonRMC.
  • $41,000 of funds were disbursed from Foundation to support the purchase of a Stryker® lift system for the hospital's new ambulance. The lift system allows the care team ergonomic support for safely loading patients for transport.
  • Thanks to donor memorial funds, the Foundation supported a $10,000 project in 2022 to open an End of Life room and family room and is supporting $40,000 this year toward the purchase of new colonoscopes for the operating room.
  • The Foundation supports an annual wheelchair replacement program that allows SampsonRMC to maintain an adequate fleet of chairs for safe patient transport.
  • Nearly $350,000 generated by our Foundation in the most recent 18-month period to directly benefit Sampson Regional Medical Center.
  • Provided community outreach, including health education and academic training site, outpatient health education, free fitness and nutrition programs, support groups, health fairs and free cancer screenings, disaster relief and workforce development.
  • Served more than 16,000 individuals through community benefit programs
  • Invested $1.3 million in FY2019 + FY2020 for community benefit programs

SampsonRMC is among Sampson County's largest employers, with nearly 600 full-time exempt employees, and additional mid-level and physician providers directly contracted for full-time and part-time services

  • $26 million in payroll annually
  • Millions of dollars annually in local commerce
  • Support for local organizations, the arts, and education that contribute to community improvement and quality of life

Facility Operations is a behind-the-scenes, yet critical function to providing quality patient care. Significant investments are required to maintain a safe environment and comply with regulations. SampsonRMC is exceptionally challenged by an aging infrastructure, and essential repairs, upgrades and replacement of systems are continuously needed.

As imaging equipment nears the end of its useful life and technology improves, reinvestment is essential. Approximately $4 million over the next three years will be required to advance imaging technology for Sampson County.

At any given time, $3-5 million in capital needs are part of a rolling plan to address replacement of essential medical devices and purchase new equipment for expansion of services.

In a digital world, our IT infrastructure is vital to delivering patient care. IT is the backbone for that integrity, which includes security of networks, support for advancement in medical systems and technology, regulatory compliance, and expansion of telemedicine. More than $1.5 million will be required over the next two years for operability in these areas.

Your gift helps transform lives and strengthen our healthcare system.
